The Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R shows a very similar resolution characteristic to its in house cousin - the Fujinon XF 23mm f/1.4 R. At f/1.2 it is capable of delivering a very good center performance combined with good albeit not stellar borders/corners. Stopping down improves the quality slowly but steadily till reaching a peak quality around f/5.6.
The Fuji 56mm f/1.2 (read my full review here) is considered one of the premier lenses of the Fujifilm lens lineup. The 56mm focal length gives a field of view the same as that of an 85mm lens on full frame, while the fast f/1.2 aperture will yield depth of field similar to an f/1.8 lens on full frame.
Currently I have an XF 56mm f/1.2 R (first version) and decided to upgrade to either of the lenses mentioned in the title for the reason of close focusing. I found Sigma very appealing because of its size / weight and price compared to the new fuji lens. But I have these three concerns. Quality control of sigma lens; Compatibility for future

Verdict. The Sigma 56mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a high quality compact lens that reminds you why APSC and smaller formats are still very relevant in a World increasingly obsessed with full-frame. Available in Sony e and Micro Four Thirds mounts, the Sigma 56mm f1.4 delivers short telephoto coverage with pin sharp details across the frame and Sample images taken with a Fujinon XF 56mm f1.2 R mounted on a Fujifilm XT1 body; each of these images is an out-of-camera JPEG with Lens Modulation Optimisation enabled.
I'm currently shooting an XE-2 with a 16mm F1.4, 35mm F2 and looking to add a third lens potentially. My local shop has a Voigtlander 58mm, this would be manual focus only and would require a metabones adapter. I've tested the 56mm and thought it was very nice albeit expensive and slow to focus/hunt in low light.
